Ten answers to the un-answerable question: “what is Web 2.0?”
- It’s when you make all the content. And they keep all the revenue. (Thanks!)
- It’s when you need to sign up to every site you want to use. And a few that you don’t.
- itz wen u can custmize ur prfl with loads of kool css!!!!1 and crash evry vistorz browzer in da procss!!!! LOLZ!!!!!!111
- It’s a technology that allows no thought to remain unexpressed. No matter how stupid or grammatically incorrect it may be.
- It’s when you make “friends” on every bloody website you visit.
- It’s a framework that allows a proactive paradigm shift from a synergy of leveraging the long tail to an immersion-enterprise scheme of next gen usability and AJAX compliancy. And a buzzword.
- It’s the platform nerds use to play a game called “Edit Wars”.
- It’s a phrase that refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services – such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies – which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users [citation needed].
- It’s when none of your software is on your hard-drive.
- It’s when clouds have tags, not rain.

Jess: Ah, of course, how could I forget the rid.iculo.us URLs.
Starting Today: Glad to be of assistance! Many Web 2.0 apps include the things mentioned in the post, but I generally tend to think of its main defining feature as being user-generated content.
