Links of the recent past
No, not links of the week this time. I’m not efficient enough for that, but check out Simplicity for regular-as-clockwork weekend linkage. Either way, here’s some bits and pieces I’ve enjoyed over the last 15 days or so:
- Five douchebag power tools - that’s “five signs of a grade-A prat” to my fellow Brits. Whichever side of the Atlantic you’re on though, it’s hilarious.
- How to construct the perfect e-mail subject line – nerdy, but extremely useful nonetheless. Especially when you send as many e-mails as I do.
- Aurora: nature lights up the skies - breathtaking collection of pictures. One of my life ambitions to see one of these for real.
- Idea: the digital jewel box - a possible solution for those who hate the intangibility of MP3s? You still can’t have cool-looking piles of them around your stereo though.
- 10 obvious things about the future of newspapers - they’ll seem obvious once this article points them out to you, but I bet you won’t have thought of them previously.
- Which Wich embraces social media - the US sandwich chain is endorsing this guy’s quest to blog his way through all 51 menu items. Now that’s what blogging was invented for!
- “All Things Adorable” mixtape - a great selection of cutesy indie and bubbly pop downloads. I especially love the Lily Allen track about London; reminds me of good times working in our nation’s capital last summer.
- Journalists: cover my town. I’ll pay you $191 per year - can bloggers replace local newspapers? This guy will pay you if you do so in his area.
- Keep your coins – a great piece of graffiti, and a great cause. But is it a Banksy? Hmm…
- We convinced someone to quit her job - fascinating finance blog The Simple Dollar explains how a woman ended up taking home more money when she quit her $12-an-hour job for one that paid only $4. Think outside the box…
And while I’m here too: thanks to everyone that’s written about or commented on my posts recently, especially Gary Marshall and Tim Worstall (both writing about my Biffovision review), Weblog Tools Collection (about my “blogaholic” post) and Rational Psychic who wrote a great piece on Voltaire’s Candide after reading my 10 secrets of writing great reviews.
Cheers also to the following blog carnivals: All Tips & Tricks, Random Thoughts, Success Part 2, Thoughts & Philosophies and Treehouse Jukebox.

Not to ‘rub it in’ Mr Deamer but when i was flying back from LA last year overnight, just by chance i decided to cheekily open up my plastic window curtain to reveal the northern lights themselves.
we were flying through them!
It was fucking beautiful to say the least.

Stunning good looks? Why Jonathan, I never knew you felt so strongly…
I was reading an FAQ in Loaded magazine (there is only so much culture one can handle!) and it was discussing the pro’s and con’s of marrying a mate by civil partnership. It discussed tax reasons, benefits etc.
The last question was; “Do we have to bum to make it official?”
I found that highly amusing
